Our Programs

Redwood Montessori School offers academic programs for toddlers approaching preschool age, preschoolers, and Kindergartners. The Redwood Montessori School Calendar is modeled off the year-round calendar of the Petaluma/Old Adobe City School District.

Primary & Kindergarten Program (3 years to 6 years)
Our mixed-age classroom is designed to facilitate social, emotional and academic development for Primary and Kindergarten students. The curriculum materials are rooted in the Montessori philosophy, and as such are naturally appealing to children’s innate desire to learn. New and challenging concepts and materials are introduced throughout the school year to continually engage children’s curiosity. As children master thoughtfully developed activities, they naturally progress to more challenging activities throughout the classroom. The Kindergarten program includes additional project-based components, and is carefully structured to prepare children for first grade. Our program encourages independence while simultaneously fostering collaboration and teamwork. The following sessions are available for the Primary and Kindergarten Program:

  • Full-Day Session: 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • AM Session: 8:30 – 11:30am

Toddlers-in-Transition Program (2 years to 3.5 years)
Our Toddlers-in-Transition Program provides an age-appropriate and nurturing introduction to the Montessori learning environment that is specifically tailored to toddlers’ developmental needs. The Toddlers-in-Transition classroom is designed to be warm, gentle, and consistent and in doing so encourages bonding between peers, teachers and the community at large. The classroom environment is full of ever-changing materials that naturally interest and challenge ever-curious toddlers. The program also provides the opportunity to mingle with and learn from older children, while maintaining a separate toddler-appropriate work-space. This is an excellent setting for toddlers to test and develop their newfound physical, social and emotional independence in a school setting.  The following sessions are available for the Toddlers-in-Transition Program:

  • Full-Day Session: 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • AM Session: 8:30 – 11:30am

After-school Enrichment Program (2 years to 6 years)
Our after-school program provides high-quality enrichment programs and physical activity during extended hours. The after-school program is specifically designed to foster collaborative problem solving, appreciation for art, nature, cooperation and community building. We are particularly attuned to the needs of children who attend after-school programs after a full day of school, and will ensure that ample time for rest and recuperation is made available.  Our After-School Enrichment Program runs from 3:30pm-5:30pm.

We  offer  drop-in after-school programming for families already attending our school.  Please use this link to sign up:  Sign Up for Drop-In Aftercare.
